Our Direction StatementRata Street School Board of Trustees and staff are committed to providing all children with: A desire to learn encouraged by a variety of learning experiences; including regular education outside the classroom and a strong commitment to affirmation in the classroom. All curriculum areas will be covered according to national guidelines. High achievement in written language, reading and maths A high level of personal and social skills (refer the NZ Curriculum Framework page 19-20) Significant experience of music, drama, dance, visual art, physical education and sport Close monitoring of physical well-being including regular programmes on basic health issues Significant experience in Information Technology Significant exposure to the variety of cultures present within the Rata Street community ensuring that all those cultures are affirmed and valued.
Our Expectations of Achievement of MaoriAchievement targets for Maori students are set at the same level as for all students. We expect the achievement of Maori students at each level to be in proportion (or better) with their representation in the school. All reasonable steps will be taken to provide instruction in tikanga Maori and te reo Maori.
