Attendance
Regular attendance is essential if your child is to reach their full potential. If your child is to be absent through illness or family bereavement please ring the school between 8.30 and 9.00am. We will phone and check all un-notified absences daily.
Absence: For some students and their families regular attendance of school is an issue. High levels of non-attendance at primary school affects achievement and sets a bad example for later schooling. There is countless research that links non-attendance (truancy) with lower outcomes in later life – including criminal activity, substance abuse and unemployment. Many of the students with high non-attendance levels are absent because parents are keeping their children away from school far too often and for reasons that are not justified. In an effort to ensure students maintain a 'regular' level of attendance (90%) , the school will monitor each students attendance. Parents will be informed if attendance becomes an issue. Lateness: A child needs to be at school before the bell to unpack and prepare for school. A late child disrupts the learning of all others in the class. We want the students forming good habits early in their schooling, and you can help by having them here on time. |
